About the directors:
Sam Nesbitt, Mid High School Honor Band Director
Sam Nesbitt has taught in the Los Lunas and Albuquerque
Public Schools, and is currently the band director at Eisenhower
Middle School and Highland High School. He is an active performer
in Albuquerque and has performed with such names as The Four Tops,
The Temptations, Bernadette Peters, New Mexico Symphony Orchestra,
The Santa Fe Symphony and many others. He received his degree in
music education from the University of New Mexico and has
been the director of the NMJW Middle School Honor Jazz Band
for four years. He also co-conducts the Middle School Junior
Youth Band for the Albuquerque Youth Symphony.
Christian Pincock, High School Honor Band Director
Christian Pincock is a trombonist and composer with a broad range of
experience in many styles of music. Coming from a foundation in jazz, he has
performed in a diverse range of situations including jazz, classical, popular music,
salsa, avant-garde jazz, experimental, electro-acoustic, and has collaborated in
multi-disciplinary projects involving actors, dancers, and visual artists. In addition to
writing new works for big band and jazz combos, he has written arrangements for a
variety of ensembles in New York, Boston, and Albuquerque including swing bands,
brass ensembles, popular music groups and experimental ensembles. Christian has
shared the stage with well-known artists including Bobby Shew, Toshiko Akiyoshi, and
Bob Brookmeyer and holds degrees from New England Conservatory of Music
and Manhattan School of Music.
