Mission:
"The New Mexico Jazz Workshop is a
non-profit organization that promotes Jazz Education and
Performance."
What We
Do:
The New Mexico Jazz Workshop (NMJW) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3)
organization dedicated to the American improvisational art form
known as Jazz. The NMJW is the premier jazz presenting and
education organization in New Mexico. Through concert presentations
and educational programs for children and adults, the NMJW promotes
awareness and appreciation for jazz and fosters understanding
between cultures. While the organization is committed to showcasing
the best and very broadest interpretation of jazz, it is also
concerned with the creation of programming that is responsive to
the unique regional and cultural aspects of New Mexico. This is
accomplished by fostering a local music scene and collaborating
with other community and artistic organizations.
Background:
The New Mexico
Jazz Workshop is the oldest and largest nonprofit jazz organization
in the state. Contributing to the quality of life in Albuquerque
and the state for over 30 years, our organization plays a critical
role in enhancing the cultural vitality that makes our city great.
Over the past several years, the Jazz Workshop has grown to be one
of the leading arts organizations in Albuquerque boasting an
audience of over 25,000. Through four different annual concert
series, we present a wide diversity of music including jazz, blues,
salsa and Latin jazz. Our concerts and assembly programs each year
support local musicians and present the greatest names in jazz,
blues and salsa. We believe that teaching our children about this
culturally diverse and uniquely American art form is imperative.
The NMJW proudly offers education programs that reach 10,000
students throughout the state each year.
The New Mexico Jazz
Workshop relies on donor contributions to help us continue
providing quality programs. We invite you to join us in our efforts
by becoming a sponsor, member, volunteer, or board member and
contribute what you can. Please feel free to e-mail, phone or
"snail-mail" us for more information. We are happy to receive any
questions or comments regarding our organization, our program of
events, or this web site.
